Op 96 jarige leeftijd is Henry King in 1982 overleden.Geboren op 24 januari 1886 in Christiansburg, overleden aan een hartanval op 29 juni 1982 in Toluca Lake, Californië. In 1936 richtte hij samen met Herbert J. Biberman, Frank Borzage, John Ford, Howard Hawks, William K. Howard, Gregory La Cava, Rowland V. Lee, Rouben Mamoulian, Lewis Milestone, A. Edward Sutherland, Frank Tuttle, W.S. Van Dyke, King Vidor, Richard Wallace en William Wellman het Screen Directors Guild op. In 1960 werd de naam veranderd in Directors Guild of America (DGA).
